ActivaPin™ -Absorbable Pin
ActivaPin™ is an advanced absorbable implant used for the fixation of bone fractures, osteotomies, arthrodesis, and osteochondral fractures in the presence of appropriate immobilization. The ActivaPin material is gradually replaced by bone in approximately two years, eliminating the need for removal surgery.
Individually sterile-packaged and easy to insert using reusable instrumentation.
Patented Self-Locking SL™ technology reduces the risk of unstable fixation.
Ideal for pediatric orthopedic applications.
Strong track record of safe use.
For the fixation of bone fractures, osteotomies, arthrodesis, and osteochondral fractures in the presence of appropriate immobilization.
ActivaPin is an implant with excellent mechanical properties created using tailored materials and proprietary manufacturing techniques. It offers excellent strength retention during the bone-healing period. ActivaPin’s bending modulus is closely matched that of cortical bone, reducing stress shielding and supporting healthy bone remodeling.
ActivaPin features Bioretec’s innovative Self-Locking SL technology and a grooved surface design that reduces the risk of unstable fixation. In a physiological environment, the implant’s diameter expands by 1–2%, ensuring a secure and stable attachment to the bone.
Patient Benefits
Patented Self-Locking SL™ Technology
ActivaPin’s patented Self-Locking SL technology minimizes the risk of unstable fixation by enabling the implant’s diameter to expand by 1–2% in a physiological environment, creating a firm and secure bond with the bone.
Absorption Within Approximately 2 years
ActivaPin is absorbable and the implant degrades slowly in the span of approximately two years transferring the stress to the healing bone and assisting in the healing process.
Faster healing
The absorption of ActivaPin eliminates the need for removal surgery, reducing the risk of implant-related long-term complications and facilitating a smoother healing process.
